Last night's Cookoff was another rousing success. Here's a breakdown of the meal, prepared and presented by the lovely Cybele.
- Picadillo, served over baked tortilla
- Arroz con Pollo as the main dish
- Avocado salad on the side
- Mojitos to wash it all down

The wine list for the evening:
- Dom Pérignon Vintage 1996
- Brachetto d'Acqui Rosa Regale Banfi 2004
- Gould Campbell Porto Vintage 1985

Christine hit it home with this apple/peach tart desert. It tasted like a cinnabon with apples and pears cooked over it. I think Garrett's cholesterol jumped back over 200 with this meal!

So baseball has been 86'ed from the 2012 Olympics in London. At least we won't be tortured with another who-gives-a-shit saga of what team of the day A-Rod might play for.

Tonight should mark the last cookoff hosted at the 1-3-9 before our move to the Upper West Side. Cybele is providing the meal, Garrett is up on desert, my site will be thinking of new ways to overwrite more content, and stay tuned to see if Chad ponies up for a bottle of Dom Perignon to make good on a challenge to Garrett on his cholesterol.

Well put:

Congressman Charles Rangel (D-NY) who is African American, was asked what he thought about President Bush. "Well," he said. "I really think he shatters the myth of white supremacy once and for all."
